Rio Grande Gorge

Covered in sparse desert vegetation, the immense valley floor spreads out for miles. If it wasn't for the sight of a bridge ahead, first time visitors would have no idea the Earth opens up into a huge chasm  in the desert floor. Here, the gorge depth is 800 feet deep where the Rio Grande river follows a 30 million year old rift.

Another in a series I have called Canyonlands.  Throughout my life I have been inspired by the magnificent landscape of the west, especially those special places where the rock soars.

Another  series of  watercolors working to achieve a minimalist feel. A fun way to bust loose and explore with watercolors using quick strokes with a Japanese writing brush on rough watercolor paper.
