Sandia Sunset

“May your mountains rise into and above the clouds... down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm..." - Edward Abbey

The Sandia Mountains, serve as a dramatic backdrop for Albuquerque.   They catch the colors of the sunset, especially when the thunderstorms  storms roll in. Throughout my life I have been inspired by the magnificent landscape of the west, especially those special places where the rock soars.

Abstract landscape of the colorful and seemingly endless mesas and the layers of colors in Northern New Mexico that have drawn artists for well over a century.  The buttes and mesas have a towering presence above the plains with an immense sky above.

Another  series of  watercolors working to achieve a minimalist feel. A fun way to bust loose and explore with watercolors using quick strokes with a Japanese writing brush on rough watercolor paper.  8" x  12" image size, 16" x 20" mat, ready to frame.

Image was photographed to represent original colors, but your monitor colors may vary the colors slightly.
