Figurative Watercolors
A collection of works that express a dynamic quality; using the figure as an opportunity to introduce color and motion.  In each approach I rely on the quality of light and shadow to give a bold quality to my work.  The figures occur in my work when I want to introduce a sense of whimsy or mystery.   The lack of faces in my figurative pieces is developing into  a signature feature of my work.   I soon realized that I was more interested with the form, color and motion in the composition rather than capturing realism, which led me to ignoring the face altogether.

These  final pieces are all examples of monotypes.   A process where one creates the image by drawing or painting with printers ink on a smooth surface or plate and  transfering the image onto paper using a press.  The resulting image is a unique,   one of a kind piece.     Some  of these are  secondary prints where the plate has some remaining ink    and the image was  worked  on some more to  create  a second, one  of  a  kind image.   The process is exhilarating, and I like to work fast and spontaneously  to create more abstract work.
